Chromebooks are equipped with web browsers; office software, including spreadsheets; and word processing. They offer the ability to work in a semi-private study room and allow for video conferencing.

Eligibility 

• Winnefox cardholders only  
• Must be 18 years of age or older  
• The borrower must have a library account in good standing 

 Loan Periods and Availability  

• Available from the 2nd floor Reference Desk for the entire day. 
• Must be returned directly to library staff at the 2nd floor Reference Desk.  
• Must be returned 10 minutes before closing.  
• Available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved.  
• Cardholders may borrow one Chromebook at a time.  
• Chromebooks may not be checked out for other individuals.  
• Chromebooks are barcoded and must be checked out to the borrower using their Winnefox Library card.  
• A mouse will be provided upon request.  

 Fees and Liability 
 The borrower is financially liable for any lost, stolen or damaged Chromebook. 

Chromebook Use 

• The borrower must not leave the Chromebook unattended or take it out of the library building or into the restrooms. If a borrower must leave for a short time, the Chromebook may be left at the 2nd floor Reference Desk.  
• A borrower’s files and searches will be erased when signing out as Guest or the Internet browser is closed. Therefore, borrowers wanting to preserve files should save them to a USB flash drive or email the files to themselves.  
• Service desk staff can assist with printing.  
• Library staff may not be available to provide technical support.  
• Chromebook borrowers must abide by OPL’s Internet Access Policy.  
• Misuse of Chromebooks will result in revocation of Chromebook privileges.  
• The library assumes no responsibility for any damage to borrower’s personal devices, software, files and/or equipment.  
• Borrowers must return the Chromebook in the same working order and condition as when it was received. No additional software can be downloaded or installed on the Chromebooks, nor should changes be made to the Chromebook’s settings/ configurations.  
• Chromebook battery will last for up to 13 hours; power cord is not needed.
