Reference service is offered at the 2nd Floor Reference Desk to connect individuals and organizations with the information they need to meet their informational, educational, and recreational needs.
Reference service is offered at the 2nd Floor Reference Desk to connect individuals and organizations with the information they need to meet their informational, educational, and recreational needs. Staff are able to answer questions, provide instructional and Internet assistance, and offer readers’ advisory service. These services are available to all patrons regardless of residency. Service is provided in-person, by telephone, email, and chat.

The Oshkosh Public Library empowers individuals and organizations by providing prompt and efficient access to accurate information across a range of topics.
Library staff will strictly maintain patron confidentiality as outlined in library board policy and Wisconsin statutes.
Library staff will engage in regular, ongoing training to expand their knowledge of information resources and customer service.
Staff at the Reference Desk strive to balance the demand for reference service with other services offered at the Reference Desk.
In addition to resources freely available online, the library maintains a collection of print material and subscription online resources to meet the information needs of patrons.
The library is unable to offer personal opinions, legal/medical/tax advice, complex language translation, editorial services, or pricing/shopping service.
Staff are not able to complete research projects.
