Group Library Visits

We welcome group visits to the library! There are several tour types to choose from. Request a tour using the linked form and a librarian will be in touch with you to schedule your visit.

Tour & Visit Options

School Age Visit (45 minutes)

This tour is suggested for preschool-2nd grade. This visit includes a story time, activity, and a tour of our Youth Services department. You can add time for browsing, reading in-house and/or checking out materials. 

Teen Zone Visit

This visit is suggested for grades 7-12. This tour includes a book talk and recommendations from our librarians, catalog instruction, and a tour of the Teen Zone.

Local History & Genealogy Collections Tour

OPL houses an extensive collection of historical materials that are essential for researchers. Book a tour of this collection to learn how the library’s local history and genealogy collections can assist you in your research into your business, home, or family. This tour includes search instruction and demonstration of tools such as the microfilm machine. Please allow an hour for this tour and additional time if your group wishes to conduct research.

Library History Tour

Our library has a great history behind it. This tour gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of the library, including the William Waters building. Local History Librarian Michael McArthur will show how the library has expanded since its establishment in 1900. Please allow an hour for this tour.

Technology Resources Tour

The library offers a variety of technology tools to the community. Bring your group to learn more about how to use our internet computers, copy machines, VHS and slide conversion station, 3D printer, and more. Please allow an hour for this tour and additional time if your group wishes to try the tools afterward.

Library Instruction Tour

Your group will get a tour of the library, learn where different collections are located, and learn how to use the catalog to search for and find what they are looking for. They will learn about a variety of library services. Please register your group for library cards ahead of time by visiting this page (link to how to get a library card page). Please allow an hour for this tour and additional time if your group wishes to check out materials.
